Signature holes

Where the Norman Course makes its name

  1. A green with a yellow flagstick beside a water hazard
    6

    The hardest hole

    Par 4 · 445 yards · Handicap 1

The number one handicap hole, a 445 yard par 4 from the back markers that demands two well struck shots. Par here is a very good score.

  2. The Barefoot marina on the Intracoastal Waterway seen from a villa balcony
    10

    The signature par 3

    Par 3 · 203 yards · Handicap 14

An elevated tee and a dramatic shot down to a large green beside the Intracoastal Waterway. Just over 200 yards from the back markers and the most photographed hole at Barefoot.

  3. Golfers hitting balls on the practice range at Barefoot Resort
    14

    Along the water

    Par 4 · 387 yards · Handicap 18

A mid length par 4 with the waterway running the length of the right side. Boats pass as you play, and the breeze off the water is part of the club selection.

  4. A sunlit fairway with sand traps and homes along the tree line
    18

    A reachable finish

    Par 5 · 552 yards · Handicap 8

A par 5 of 552 yards from the back that runs home toward the clubhouse. A good drive gives the longer hitter a chance to finish with an eagle putt.

The design

What Greg Norman built here

Greg Norman built the Norman Course to sit lightly on the land, keeping the mature trees, native vegetation and wetlands that were already there and working the holes between them. Seven of them run beside the Intracoastal Waterway, which gives the course the best views at the resort and a run of holes that play very differently when the wind is up.

  • Seven waterway holesThe Intracoastal Waterway borders seven holes, with the boat traffic and the far bank in view as you play.
  • Open green frontsGreens are approachable along the ground as well as through the air, which keeps the course playable for golfers who do not fly the ball a long way.
  • Sandy waste areasFairways run out into broad natural sand in the Southwestern style rather than thick rough, with Norman’s white faced bunkers set at the turning points.

Norman Course questions

How many holes are on the Intracoastal Waterway?

Seven. They include the par 3 tenth, which plays from an elevated tee down to a green on the water, and the fourteenth, where the waterway runs the length of the right side.

Is the Norman Course the easiest at Barefoot?

It is the most golfer friendly of the four, with wide fairways and open green fronts. From the back tees it still plays over 7,000 yards with a slope of 141, so it is forgiving rather than easy.

Which Barefoot villas are closest to the Norman Course?

The Yacht Club Villas sit on the waterway near the Norman holes, and the golf villa neighborhoods are spread along the fairways. Every rental is a few minutes from the first tee.

Can I book the Norman Course with my villa?
