The Love Course
Designed by Davis Love III
Generous fairways, wide landing areas and sculpted green complexes inspired by Pinehurst No. 2. Often called the most balanced of the four Barefoot courses, and the one that suits a group of mixed handicaps best.

Where the Love Course makes its name
-
4A drivable par 4
Under 300 yards from every tee, the fourth tempts the long hitter to go for the green and asks everyone else to pick the right lay up spot. A classic risk and reward hole early in the round.
-
6The ruins hole
The plantation house ruins come fully into play here, with part of the old wall built into the surrounds of the green. It is the photograph most groups take home.
-
14The drone shot
The hole pictured at the top of this page. A 439 yard par 4 from the back markers with the fairway swinging toward a well bunkered green, one of the strongest two shot holes at the resort.
-
18A big finish
The closing par 5 stretches to 598 yards from the back markers and is the longest hole on any of the four Barefoot courses. Three good shots are needed to reach it in regulation.

The design
What Davis Love III built here
Davis Love III set out to build a course that lets you swing freely off the tee and then asks real questions on the way in. The driving corridors are wide and the landing areas generous, so the test moves to the approach shot and to how you manage the ground around the greens.
- Wide off the teeBroad fairways and roomy landing areas on nearly every hole. The course rarely punishes a drive that misses by a few yards.
- Pinehurst style greensCrowned, sculpted putting surfaces with run offs on all sides, so a missed green leaves a chip, a putt or a bump and run to think about.
- The plantation ruinsA recreated plantation house sits along the front nine between the third and seventh holes, with part of its wall framing the sixth green.
